The Grudge 2 - Part 1
As promised, I gotta break away from the action for a coupla strips in order to fulfill my upcoming in-print requirements, which are much more reviewish in tone and have to be encapsulated. But really... I wouldn't consider this approach if I didn't think you'd find fun within the incontinuity. If I'm wrong, be sure to let me know.
Also, I'm well aware that this strip will make for better reading when both halves are available to read, but it's either this or only two updates this week. Feedback on the M.U.P.W. (More Updates Per Week) plan has been positive so far, so that's the way I'm a-gonna keep goin'.
Seeya Friday! (Oh, and the payoff for this strip's gonna be good, so don't miss it.)

Man, I have never been so bored while watching a horror movie as I was when watching The Grudge. And it's a shame, because I really liked Ju-On. I'm not one of those folks who automatically assumes that a remake must necessarily be terrible--but in this case, it sure was.
Of course, Ju-On has an unfair advantage with me. When I saw it, I hadn't slept in something like 30 hours. Several times during the movie, I dozed off, but since I was enjoying the movie, I apparently decided to continue it IN MY MIND. Talk about the ultimate rare footage--I've seen scenes from that movie that don't even exist!
Hm. I haven't seen Ju-On. I keep meaning to.
I gotta disagree with you about The Grudge, though. I wouldn't call it perfect or anything, but there was something highly entertaining about that movie. And, well, it scared the shit out of me. I'm not sure it would today, since the Grudge method of creating scariness is now way overused. Oh, and I, um, kinda saw it in a dark, creaky house by myself. So that added to the flavor.
There was something kinda fun and funny about the "plot," as it were, how the same one thing, the same horror movie trope kept popping up. Every scene. Every character! They just kept walking into and exploring a house any sane person would avoid like the plague.
It was like watching a better version of the Scooby-Doo movie, the one where Daphne got driven INSANE.
:C
I am not going to lie. Hands down, The Grudge was the worst movie I have ever seen :P It was predictable in every way, they used the seame thing to scare the audience EVERY time :P OUr family still wonders WHY we watched it all the way through. I think we thought that the explanation at the end would be good, but it wasn't. It was awful. And then watching the trailer for the second one, which is also one of the most boring, terrible trailers I have ever seen, once again using the same little kid scare tactic in EVERY shot. BORING. So yeah :P I have to disagree and I hope this movie does terribly so they will just STOP MAKING THEM. They are making our society dumber. Watch a GOOD horror movie. There is nothing better then a GOOD horror movie, and The Grudge is a travesty to the genre
Aw, c'mon, Dakota. Don't be such a hater!
No, you're right. It isn't a good movie. It's crap. But I still found it entertaining. Which is funny, 'cause I'm usually the first person in line to hate something 'cause it sucks. I think that means it's secretly GENIUS.
It's just an extremely well-kept secret.

I definitely think the environment you saw it may have influenced your response. =)
Much as I love a good horror movie, I actually have a pretty high tollerance for bad ones as well--but The Grudge exceeded my threshold.
Admittedly, there are definitely some creepy things in the movie -- but they're really watered down versions of how creepy those same ideas were in the original. Though, again, Ju-On may have an unfair advantage, given my mental state when I saw it.
I just got on wondering what other people thought about The Grudge part 2. Part 1, I must admit, freaked me out a lil more than I'm actually willing to admit. I was kinda hyped for weeks afterward. It really wasn't that god awful sound she made; rather it was more of the "idea" that a person dying in the grip of a rage could create something as sinister as a curse. AND dadgomit, the long black hair. Creepsville to the max! That being said however, part 2 let me down. It was not good. It was not scary. It was a tad creepy, but major boring and definately not up to my horror standards. I think that if that's all they could come up with then they should have burned the script and buried it under a wet dirt rock. And to think I was all exited and sh_t! Sorry, but it left me extremely frustrated and I give it 2 thumhs down.
